Book Review: Eleanor & Park

Just finished Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell

I think it's a very good book in which teenagers in love could easily relate to the way the characters love each other like there's nothing to lose, and even parents nowadays can be quite nostalgic about the way the fell in love back then.

Rainbow Rowell has successfully sums up the process of being in love. The stranger phase, the awkwardness, the dying to see each other phase (and how one hour feels like a year), the fight and argues, and even to the point of someone being the only one that is important.

The story also doesn't go as smooth as other chick-flicks goes. Other teen romance stories manages their relationship well and supported with their parents. Other characters doesn't have life as messed up as Eleanor's has. And others are concluded either in sad endings, or happy endings.

No spoilers will be given, but I do hope you future readers will read what Rainbow Rowell said about "the three words". I agree, and I do think it's Eleanor and Park private intimate story to be continued. As curious as I am, I'm kinda glad that Rainbow Rowell left an abstract ending. It left readers to interpret and choose what kind of ending do they want. It also left us some hope that there will be a another story about Eleanor & Park or probably a short epilog. For me personally, I'm just glad don't have to say good bye and bid farewell to the story and the characters.
